Scenic Wonders - If you are driving from Christchurch , there are many wonderful and scenic things to see and do on the way up to Glenrock. The country side is beautiful and changes with every km taken. You will see a wide range of animals as you drive by such as sheep, pigs, cattle, Llarmers and much more. The world renowned Southern Alps, first seen as a picturest backdrop as you drive across the vast Canterbury plains and ending up so close that you feel you can touch them ,make the visit an amazing experience. Once you get to the Rakaia Gorge there are a number of cool things to do from nature walks, jet boat tours, lunch at the Terrace Downs Golf course which is just a 2 minute detour from the main road, fishing, and picnics by the river. Once on Double Hill Runs Rd the views get more and more breath taking as you get further up the Gorge. An example of just such scenic views surrounding Glenrock, can be viewed by clicking this link. And don't forget Glenrock is only 1 ½ hrs comfortable driving with no stops.

Finding Us - Traveling South
 From Christchurch, head to Yaldhurst Rd, from there carry on up Highway 73 until you come to Aylesbury Corner. Turn left here following the signs to Hororata, Mt Hutt and the Rakaia Gorge. Turn left again at the Hororata round about and continue up this road until you come to a stop sign. Turn Left again heading to the Rakaia Gorge and Mt Hutt. You will go down through the gorge and up the other side. Take the first Right turn onto Blackford road. Glenrock is on the Yellow AA sign. Blackford road then goes onto Double Hill Runs Road. Once you get to the shingle road we are 24km up this. The second property on the shingle.

There is a sign at the gate saying Glenrock.

Finding Us - Traveling North
If you are driving up from the lower South Island of New Zealand. you can turn off at Ashburton. Keep on the motorway Highway 1 till you get to Ashburton, turn left onto Highway 77 to Methven and the Mt Hutt ski field. From Methven carry on and follow 77 till you get to a T section, turn right onto highway 72 heading to the Rakaia Gorge.

About 1km down the hill, take a left onto Blackford Rd. There is a AA sign at the turn off. Glenrock is on this. We are 34kms from the main road. There is a Glenrock Lodge Holiday Home sign on the gate. Happy and safe traveling.
