WALKING

There are numerous walks for all different levels around the area, from 10 minute walks down to the river to day walks up in the mountains with spectacular views of the Southern Alps, Lake Coleridge and of the three rivers. (Rakaia, Wilberforce and the Mathias rivers)

 FISHING:

There is great fishing only 2 minutes away with the world renowned Glenariffe Stream, Hydra Waters and in the Rakaia River. Must have own fishing rods and bring your fishing licenses or they can be purchased at the Methven Mobile Station 40 minutes down the road.

WATER SPORTS:

A lot of fun can be had in the river in the summer months, with the water temperature being warm and the river activities being endless, for example swimming, kayaking, tubeing on rubber tyres, heaps of sand and very warm backwaters for hours of entertainment for the children

ADDITIONAL:

Sky diving ( min 8 people), clay-bird shooting, jet boar tours

  • SKIING

  • There are many ski fields to choose from with Mt Hutt being 40 minutes away to the ski-field turn-off and then Mt Olympus, Porters Heights, Cheesman which are all a short drive around 75 minutes away.
  • ROCK CLIMBING

  • Glenrock has fantastic rock climbing on the property; known as the Redcliffs Rock Climbing site in the rock climbing books. There are a lot of different grades to cater for everyone's individual needs. Here is a Quote from the Canterbury Rock Book, ( A poor man's Verdon, up the Rakaia River.   • A Christchurch company Rock and Ice also run Abseiling form the Glenrock lime quary for pre booked groups.

    MOUNTAIN BIKING:

    Glenrock is a great place to adventure round on a mountain bike, whether it be a gentle bike up or down the road or for the more advanced an uphill climb to a big open flat at the back of our farm.

    We have 2 mountain bikes available for use.

 

  

JET BOATING:

The Rakaia River, Wilberforce, Mathias and the Lake Stream have exciting boating for all levels. There is boat access out in front of the house only 2 minutes away from the Holiday Homes.

  • GOLF

  • Terrace Downs High Country Resort has an 18 hole Golf course which is only 40 minutes drive away. They have a wonderful restaurant and offer a wide range of different golf options for all different levels.  Methven also have a great 18 hole golf course

  • HUNTING:

    Glenrock offers a range of different hunting options for those staying in the Holiday Homes. We have deer, pigs, charmois, quale, thar, rabbits and possums. Hunters must have their own guns and firearms licenses to be permitted to hunt. Click here for Hunting Pic
